| Comparing sprinkler systems |
It's interesting to compare the performances of the different existing sprinkler systems in order to constate that VACTEC protection system against fire is very efficient in every situations.
The Different Water Sources
VACTEC System doesn't make drinking water compulsary. Indeed the under vacuum system can use any kind of available water for the site is protecting.
This is a remarkable advantage considering the fact that under water system and air filled system require water of quality such as drinking water.
The Environment
The under water sprinkler protection are feasible system only if the area at risk is undergoing temperatures above 32° farenheit. The air filled system is working at 32° but its efficiency drops at very low temperature.
The under vaccum system will on the contrary work without any difficulty at very low temperature whiwh allows to protect more efficiently sites located in cold areas against fire.
The Reaction Time
On an under-water system, when a fire starts, as soon as the fuse of the sprinkler burn, the water flows instantaneously over the fire, unless there is any kind of clog or stopping material.
On a system filled with air, the water arrives after the evacuation of the compressed air out of all the pipes.
The under vaccum system is faster. There is indeed a pressure growth whiwh you can't find in other systems.
Installation Cost
An air filled system is more expensive than an under water or an under vacuum one. The variation lies in the fact it imposes superior quality pipes.
An under-vacuum system of an equivalent capacity needs less checkpoints and only standard pipe
Maintenance Cost
Maintainance of an air filled protection system takes an average of 50 hours per year and per station to clean and needs a large amount of spare parts.
The under vaccum system needs only a few spare parts and a small amount of cleaning in order to be efficient and tough. That makes the whole system cheaper comparing to under water and air filled systems.
Energy consumption
A building using an under water sprinkler protection will need to maintain heat during an average of five months per year.
The under-vaccum and the air-filled systems are less expensive.
If we analyse carefully : the air filled system compressor works 7 hours per month and the under vacuum pump 30 minutes per month (tests included).
